About
Early childhood education programs focus largely on the production and development of oral language skills. With the development of oral language skills, children learn pre-reading skills by being read to. Many preschool programs enrich classrooms with books that introduce children to a variety of topics and books of various genres. As an early childhood educator in a low income school district that houses many children who are emergent bilingual, I understand the importance of connecting children to literature in their earliest years to create a love of reading. I wanted to start this blog to create a space that would give us as educators an opportunity to start ad continue a dialogue about the underrepresentation and misrepresentation of marginalized groups in publishing. I look forward to engaging with you!
